Mario Chong (Peru)




Professor Mario Chong (Jianming Zhang) holds a Ph.D. in Business Administration from the National University of San Marcos (UNMSM), and Master’s degrees in Industrial Engineering and Systems Engineering, along with a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Lima (UL).

He is currently Associate Dean of Innovation and Design Engineering at the School of Engineering, Universidad del Pacífico (Peru), a professor, and a member of its Research Center for Innovation and Productivity (CIUP). His work focuses on technological innovation, sustainable systems, and interdisciplinary solutions to industrial and urban challenges, with a strong emphasis on linking policy design with practical implementation. His research covers supply chain management, sustainable urban freight systems, and technology-driven industrial development.

Professor Chong actively engages in international collaboration. He serves as a National Contact Point for Horizon Europe, a Stanford Women in Data Science (WiDS) Ambassador, and a board member of PANAMSTR and IEEE Edunine. His interests also include global trends in assistive technology policy, national innovation strategies, and the role of universities in knowledge transfer and policy engagement.

He previously led academic programs at Universidad del Pacífico in MBA, global business, agribusiness, and supply chain management. He holds advanced certifications from MIT in Supply Chain Management and from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Sustainable Urban Freight Systems. He is a Senior Member of IEEE and a member of IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE) and the POMS College of Healthcare Operations and Crisis Management.
