Job Summary:


Universidad del Rosario (Colombia) is one of the most prestigious universities in Latin America. The Faculty of Political Science, Government and International Relations offers three undergraduate programs, one master program, a Ph.D. program in Political and International Studies, and four Observatories. The Faculty seeks applicants with a Ph.D. in Political Science, Economics, International Relations, Sociology or related fields to join the Colombian Organized Crime Observatory research team. International research achievements and future research agenda are essential.


Subfield:


The Faculty of Political Science, Government and International Relations and Insight Crime have joined forces to establish the Colombian Organized Crime Observatory in order to address the challenges posed by transnational organized crime to public and citizen security in Latin America and to on-going peacebuilding efforts in Colombia. The Observatory’s primary purpose is to analyze the main trends, dynamics and networks of transnational organized crime in Colombia and Latin America, and their impact on violence, citizen security and state-functioning in the region.


Fellow's desired areas of expertise:


- Transnational organized crime and illicit flows;


- Illegal economics;


- Strategic alliances between organized criminal groups in Colombia, Latin America and the world;


- Comparative analyses of organized criminal activity, territorial control, and authority in Colombia and Latin America.


Terms of employment:


One-year post-doctoral position, renewable up to 2-years, beginning in August 2019. Responsibilities will include teaching a minimum of one undergraduate or graduate course per year, carrying out the fellow’s own research, and participating actively in the consolidation of the Observatory and its research and outreach activities.
