First FLAUC Annual Meeting 2017 was held successfully in Bogota, Colombia
The first Annual Meeting of Fudan-Latin America University Consortium was held successfully in Bogota, Colombia at 8 am local time on nov 7. Hosted by University of Rosario, the theme of conference was New Challenges of Sustainable Development and Economic Growth. Jose Manuel Restrepo Abondano,President of University of Rosario, Minister of Finance of Colombia Mauricio Cardenas, Chinese Ambassador to Colombia li Nianping, Assistant Principle Chen Zhimin of fudan university and Silvia Restrepo, Vice President of University of Andes attended the opening ceremony and addressed the conference. Professor li Weisen, Director of The Institute of History of Economic Thought, Fudan university and Professor Peng Xizhe, Director of The Center for Population and Development Policy of Fudan university delivered speeches respectively at the conference. More than 300 people attended the conference, including Zhang Yi, Executive Vice President of the Institute of Development of Fudan university and representatives of the member universities.

In his speech, Jose Manuel Restrepo Abondano, President of Rosario University, stressed that the establishment of FLAUC was an important milestone for the further development of China-Latin America relations, and the alliance should actively carry out various academic activities under the framework of the cooperation.
Mauricio Cardenas, the finance minister of Colombia, analyzed the current economic development of Colombia by a large number of charts, called for more Chinese investment in the coming years and hoped that more Colombian goods could enter the Chinese market. The establishment and development of FLAUC will provide more opportunities for bilateral economic and trade cooperation of China and Latin America.

Ambassador li welcomed the Fudan delegation's arrival. He pointed out that the cooperation between China and Latin America had entered a new era. Although China and Latin America are geographically far apart, the exchanges and cooperation between people have brought them closer. Standing at a new starting point in history, China and Latin America are facing more development opportunities now. The Colombian people are very friendly to the Chinese people, but they don't know each other well enough and it needs the promotion made by Think Bank and scholars. FLAUC will certainly contribute to building a future between China and Latin America.

of Fudan University and pointed out that Fudan Unviersity would strengthen the research of Latin America and promote the cooperation between China and Latin America under the new era. With the establishment of the BRICs research center and the overseas China research center of Fudan university, Fudan has established cooperative relations with more and more Latin American universities. Today, the establishment of FLAUC provides us with a broader prospect of cooperation.

After the opening address, Professor Li Weisen gave a theme lecture “the transition of Chinese economy” with full and accurate data and charts to analyze and answer the problems that brought by the slowness of the economic growth. The topic of lecture was “the movement of Chinese people and the development of Society”, picturing a more vivid situation of Chinese people and social development from several aspects. Scholars from Latin America and industry representatives had a lively discussion with two professors.

The conference lasted for 3 days. There were several seminars held on 8th attended by people from all fields in China and Latin America to give suggestions for the further cooperation between China and Latin America. Professors and students from different universities carried out an academic discussion around the topic “development and the middle-income trap” on 9th.Meanwhile, the FLAUC meeting was held on 9th to review the achievement and the future cooperation plan. During the meeting, Chen zhimin, the assistant Principle and José Manuel Restrepo Abondano, president of Rosario signed the MOU.

FLAUC was established on May,2017.It is a important platform launched by Fudan University for making communications and cooperating with Latin America universities. Fudan and 12 top high schools in Latin amercia are the original founder.FLAUC aims to promote the bilateral understanding and intimate communication between China and Latin America through joint research and educational activities.
