Universidad del Pacífico (UP) was founded on February 28th, 1962 by a group of figures from the business sector, with the support of the catholic association Society of Jesus, as an educational and research institution focused on Economics and Management. Since then, UP has grown and consolidated itself a major academic community in Peru and the Latin American region. Nowadays, UP alumni number more than 10,600 professionals, many of them occupying senior roles at Peru’s most reputed companies and/or leadership positions in public administration.

The university currently offers nine undergraduate programs (Economics, Accounting, Finance, International Business, Business Administration, Marketing, Law, Business Engineering. and Information Engineering), 17 master’s degree programs, 50 executive education programs, and more than 250 executive education short courses. The graduate programs are segmented into two schools: Pacífico Business School, which trains ethical leaders in different fields of business expertise; and the School of Public Management, which contributes to improving public governance at different levels.

Internationalization is a permanent goal of Universidad del Pacífico, as of 2021, more than 160 exchange agreements have been signed between the university and some of the most prestigious universities worldwide, giving UP students access to the extensive academic offering of universities in the Americas, Europe, Asia, and Oceania. In addition, the Faculty Mobility Program allows full-time UP professors to carry out academic visits to foreign institutions for short periods of time. This program allows UP professors and researchers to build relationships with their counterparts at other prestigious universities and encourages the exchange of skills and experiences concerning pedagogical methods between lecturers.

With a firm commitment to its mission of promoting academic excellence, UP encourages and facilitates the production of academic research through its specialized research centers, among which we have The Center for China and Asia-Pacific Studies. This center was established in 2013 with the aim of promoting research, exchange, teaching and dissemination of specialized knowledge on China and the Asia-Pacific region. In particular, the center´s activities are focused on understanding China's economic transformations, its internationalization strategy, and its impact on Peru, Latin America, and other developing regions. It also seeks to generate knowledge within a long-term perspective about the characteristics and trends of China–Peru and China–Latin America economic relations and strategic cooperation.

The university’s vision for 2025 is to have strengthened its position as an academic community that is recognized for its leadership in the Latin American region on the basis of its contribution to sustainable development through outstanding work educating, producing, and disseminating knowledge of a high standard and impact.
